This class will satisfy the mandatory 4 hour classroom instruction requirement to obtain a Utah Concealed Carry Permit. Even though Utah is a Constitutional Carry state, allowing residents to conceal carry without needing to obtain a permit, there are a host of benefits that come with the possession of a valid Utah Concealed Firearms Permit (UT CFP). One such benefit is recognized permit reciprocity between 37 states, with the details on this benefit and others discussed in the course. This class is NOT A TACTICAL OR LIVE-FIRE COURSE. It is classroom instruction with some demonstration involving motions and stances, but there will be no ammunition utilized or loaded into any firearm. Fingerprinting and permit photos will be completed during the course at the very beginning, so SHOW UP ON TIME. 

This course will cover:

-Firearm safety rules

-Mechanics and operation

-Recommended firearm models

-Ammunition and recommended offerings

-Shooting fundamentals, i.e. grip and stance

-Safe handling, including conceal carry style, recommended holsters/companies

-Utah legal code for justification of force

-Weapons in prohibited locations

-Other Utah specific legal discussions

-Criminal and civil liability

Hello, my name is Mason Maliwauki with Maintain Your Grip Training. I have been an avid gun enthusiast my entire life, and ever since participating in my first competition in 2018 you could definitely say I have made the 2nd Amendment into my lifestyle. I have participated in numerous competitions, taken many classes from several very respectable local instructors, and practice daily at home and frequently on the range to hone my skills. Having been a professional secondary school educator for 4 years and having experience in the retail side of the gun community working at a gun counter for 3 years, I felt that it was only natural to combine my love of guns and teaching to help as many people as I could elevate their skills and knowledge to the next level. We have an amazing gun community here in Utah, and with so many new gun owners and others wanting to increase their skills I feel honored to participate in their journey to move forward in their skills and knowledge.
