In precision gas gun matches, accuracy is critical, but speed is everything. This class will introduce and explore fundamentals and strategies that will improve your performance at long range gas gun matches as well as enhance your abilities as a scoped carbine marksman.

In precision gas gun matches, accuracy is critical, but speed is everything. Speed comes from economy of movement and efficiency in the shooting process. This class will introduce and explore fundamentals and strategies that will improve your performance at long range gas gun matches as well as enhance your abilities as a scoped carbine marksman.

This class is not an intro class. It is assumed that you know how to set up and safely operate your rifle. We assume you have dope or an accurate ballistic calculator. We will do a quick review for zero, dope, and ballistic solvers, but it is expected that students have a degree of familiarity with these concepts prior to taking the class.

 

In this class we will cover:

Review:

-Zero

-Ballistic solvers and DOPE

-Pros and cons of different gear for gas gun matches - optics, calibers/cartridges, bipods, bags, tripods, dope cards, kestrel, etc.

 

Core Concepts:

-Efficiently building positions on different barricades

-Building stability into shooting positions

-Recoil management from different shooting positions

-Correction strategies after missing

-Efficient target and position transitions (indexing targets, using body position to enhance target acquisition)

-Stage strategy:

- Use of bipod, bag, tripod, etc.

- Dial vs hold

- Wind brackets and target sizes

               - Balancing speed/accuracy

-Mini match against classmates

 

Required Gear:

Scoped semi-auto rifle capable of 2 moa or less

Bipod

Shooting bag (i.e: Armageddon gear gamechanger)

Ballistic solver/kestrel

200 rounds of ammo (match ammo, no steel core)

3-5 magazines

Ear and eye protection

Food & water for the day

Range finder

Dope card/arm board

Note-taking materials

Shooting mat

Chronograph
