Precision Rifle 1

In this class we will discuss the science of precision shooting. We will emphasize understanding the basics of shooting a precision rifle. Placing precision shots requires an understanding of both internal and external ballistics.

Starting from
$250.00

Availability: In Stock

In this class students will learn:
Rifle shooting fundamentals (Trigger control, breathing, rifle/shoulder contact, body position)
Key rifle setup considerations (Scope leveling, length of pull, equipment options)
Core concepts of internal and external ballistics
How to use ballistics concepts to calculate firing solutions (elevation and windage)
An intro to wind reading
Rapid target acquisition
How to confidently engage targets out to their weapon's max effective range
How to maximize stability and recoil control by driving the rifle in different positions

We will cover topics that maximize your effectiveness with a precision rifle. After taking this course, students will be able to confidently engage targets out to their weapon’s max effective range from different firing positions.

Placing precision shots requires an understanding of both internal and external ballistics. A working knowledge of ballistics and ballistic calculators will be gained through this course. Students will learn how to set up rifle profiles in either a kestrel or ballistic calculator app. They will learn what data needs to be entered to get accurate firing solutions from these systems. We will cover rifle set up and shooting techniques that maximize your capabilities with your rifle.

In addition to ballistics, we will discuss equipment. We will cover how the rifle, ammo, optic, and supporting equipment come together to form a cohesive system. Instructors will help students set up their rifle and mount their scopes if needed, to fit their length of pull and ensure the scope is level to the rifle.

The second half of classroom instruction and the entire range day will be focused on the fundamentals of shooting a precision rifle. We will cover trigger control, driving the rifle, controlling recoil, rapid target acquisition through scope, shooting from different positions, introduction to reading wind, follow up shot correction, and much more.
